The City of Banyule is a local government area in Victoria Australia in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It was created under the Local Government Act 1989. Former councils affected included the City of Heidelberg (excluding the Mont Park/Bundoora Health precinct) the former Shire of Diamond Valley (excluding the area generally north of the Greensborough Highway the Mont Park/Bundoora Health precinct and the Eltham North area east of Karringal Drive Weidlich Road Progress Road and Ryans Road) and former Shire of Eltham (the Montmorency and Lower Plenty areas).
